A DISTRICT council will decide the future of tourist information centres next year after the results of a consultation were published.
West Dorset District Council is currently undertaking a review of its four tourist information centres (TICs) in Bridport, Dorchester, Lyme Regis and Sherborne. The authority is expected to make a decision on their future direction in spring 2016.
The council conducted a survey between June 5 and July 3 in order to capture the views of TIC customers, local residents who may not have used the service, along with local businesses and organisation.
More than 2,000 responses were collected - with feedback overwhelmingly positive about the service and in favour of it continuing in some form.
Cllr Mary Penfold, enabling portfolio holder for West Dorset District Council, said: “I would like to thank all of those who took part in the survey.
“The comments and views will help inform the Council's considerations towards future delivery options, taking account of our financial challenges.”
