MUSICIANS helped raise money for a family who lost their home in a chimney fire earlier this year.

The Clock Rocks Festival took place at Seatown in aid of Mike and Helen Long whose Clockhouse Inn was destroyed by a fire on Easter Monday.

More than £2,000 was raised for the Chideock family - with Bobbies Gurlz, Daisy Wardle, Elizabeth Swan, The Pickwicks, Shiraz, Bride Valley Band, Acoustic Rooster, Moveable Feast and Shelby's Elbow providing live music at the event.

Co-organiser Alison Smith, said: "It was so much busier than we were ever expecting. We haven't got an exact amount for how much we raised, but there was certainly more than £2,000. There were so many people there from the local community and all the music was fantastic. It was also great to see so many children out and about.

"If you drive past that pub every day, it hits home every time what happened. Mike and Helen are still not in their home, and it was a home for them and their young children and their parents - as well as their business. It's a huge thing for them.

"Everybody wants to do all they can to help them get back on their feet. Mike and Helen seemed to enjoy getting behind the bar, and there was a real festival feel."

Children enjoyed a 'Forest Schools' activity session, run by Cara of Dedley Adventure Days. There was also a coconut shy, hoopla, skittles alley and football.

Alison and co-organiser Lauren Glover would like to thanks Chideock Stores, Taddle Farm Tents, The George Inn at Charmouth, The Tiger Inn, The Anchor Inn at Seatown and RJ Balson and Son for their support.
