POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was tied up while cash was stolen during an aggravated burglary in Bridport.

The incident took place at Bridport Golf Club on Sunday April 19 - between 8pm and 11pm.

A man threatened a male member of staff – who was locking up the premises. The suspect got the member of staff to re-open the premises and stole an amount of cash.

The offender then tied up the member of staff and left him there before leaving the scene.

The victim managed to alert friends before informing the police. He was not injured during the incident.

Detective Constable Andy Stitfall of Weymouth CID said: “This was an extremely distressing incident for the victim and he is currently helping officers piece together the events from that evening.

“I urge members of the public who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time of the incident or who may have seen a vehicle leaving the location in an unusual manner to contact me on 101.

“All calls will be treated in strict confidence.”
