St James' Park Nursing Home was ranked fifth out of 2,318 homes in the region - with the top 20 south west homes receiving an award from the leading online guide to care homes - carehome.co.uk.

The recognition is based on St James' Park Nursing Home's recommendations from their residents, along with comments from friends and relatives of residents.

Claire Hart, home manager at St James' Park Nursing Home said: "We are delighted to receive this recognition for St James' Park Nursing Home, particularly as it's based on recommendations by the people who matter - our residents, their families and friends.

"The award is testament to the hard work and commitment of all the people who provide high levels of care and make St James' Park Nursing Home a homely, safe and comfortable environment for our residents to live in.

"We have worked really hard over the last two years in order to maintain those standards and this shows that we have got there. We have also got our nationally accredited gold standards accreditation, so the two go together really well and it's a credit to the staff.

"I think it's also a helpful tool for people who are looking at using the service - as it helps them compare and we should be very proud of what we have achieved."

"Their recommendations show the warmth and excellent care that exists in so many care homes.

"St James' Park Nursing Home has proved that it provides great care and we'd like to congratulate it on being a top recommended home in the south west. It's a fantastic achievement to be recognised for being a highly recommended home from the people you care for.
