A WOMAN from Bridport has been left with 'serious life changing injuries' after being involved in a two car collision on the coast road.

The 48-year-old was airlifted to Southampton Hospital for treatment. The driver of the other car, a woman from the Weymouth area, also suffered serious injuries and was taken to Dorset County Hospital.

The incident happened at around 10.30pm last night.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "At 10.30pm on Friday, February 13, 2015, a two vehicle serious injury road traffic collision occurred on the B3157, the coast road between Portesham and Abbotsbury.

"A silver Mini travelling towards Bridport collided with a silver Renault Scenic that was travelling in the other direction.

"The driver of the Mini, a woman from the Weymouth area, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Dorset County Hospital for treatment.

"The driver of the Scenic, a 48-year-old woman from Bridport, suffered serious life changing injuries and was airlifted to Southampton hospital for treatment. 

"The road was closed for several hours whilst investigators examined the scene."
