MOTORISTS faced disruption as a main road in Bridport closed yesterday evening following a gas leak.
South Street was closed in both directions just north of South Bridge from 7pm last night for emergency gas works.
A spokesman from Southern Gas Network said yesterday: "To allow us to carry out gas emergency repair works it will be necessary for the northbound lane in South Street to be closed from 7pm this evening at Morrisons traffic lights.
"A southbound lane closure is already in place for Dorset County Council works and, therefore, the road will be fully closed at Morrisons traffic lights overnight.
"Access for residents in the area and the supermarket will be maintained.
"We anticipate that we will be able to reopen the northbound lane before rush hour tomorrow morning."
