BRIDPORT: People with dementia and their carers are invited to a Christmas craft session run by the Alzheimer’s Society.

As part of the charity’s normal Memory Café group at St Swithun’s Church on Monday, November 24, they will be creating Christmas decorations for their tree.

There will also be felt making and bush craft activities.

Melanie Gale, Alzheimer’s Society peer support group facilitator in West Dorset, said: “Alzheimer’s Society’s Memory Cafes can really help improve people’s quality of life.

“They give people with the condition and their carers the opportunity to socialise with others in similar situations and receive vital support.

“Activities like this one can make a huge difference to people’s sense of wellbeing, helping people keep fit, have fun and socialise.

“There are 8,627 people with dementia living in Dorset. With the right support people can live well with the condition for a number of years.”

There will be mince pies and coffee at the event at St Swithun’s Church, in North Allington, Bridport between 10.30am and noon.

The finished decorations will be placed on the Alzheimer’s Society tree at Bridport Christmas Tree Festival throughout December.
