The Christmas Cheer will be held on December 3 and the event promises to offer a wide range of festivities and Christmas celebrations for all of the family to enjoy.

This year Bridport Christmas Cheer promises to be even bigger and better with more attractions planned and special visitors.

There will be an abundance of street stalls, a farmers market, arts, crafts and local food.

Stalls will line the streets as well as inside Bridport Arts Centre, the Town Hall and the Electric Palace.

The event opens at 4pm with local school choirs singing carols in Bucky Doo Square.

This will be followed by entertainment in the square finishing with mass carol singing at 8pm. The United Church in East Street will again be hosting the Christmas tree festival with 60 illuminated trees.

There will be live music throughout the town with local bands performing outside The Bull Hotel and The Ropemakers and fairground rides for all ages.

Father Christmas will make a special visit to the town and the mayor will switch on the Christmas lights at 6pm.

Children will have the chance to visit Father Christmas whose grotto will be outside the Arts Centre along with a host of children’s entertainers. The event will extend further along South Street and South Street car park will remain open.

The Cheer committee are searching for volunteers who are able to help with the event.

Those interested are asked to call Terri Foxwell at Bridport TIC on 01308 424901 or email bridport.tic @westdorset-weymouth.gov.uk.
