Julie works for Devon County Council as an Advisory Teacher for Music. She instigated the setting up of the Devon Youth Choir and was a helping hand for Sir David Willcocks when he worked with the County Devon Choir.

At the special event on November 9, there will be a rehearsal starting at 2pm followed by a tea break and then a public performance at 5pm.

The performance is free, with a retiring collection in aid of Lyme Bay Chorale’s Young Singer’s Bursary.

Alex Davies, Lyme Bay Chorale’s musical director and accompanist for the event, said: “Julie is taking time out from her choir the Sheldon Singers to be with us on Remem-brance Sunday. She will bring her very special warmth of personality, energy and expertise to direct this assembled choir.

“The cost to singers, which includes music provided and refreshments, is £6 and they should aim to register their attendance with Sally Crowther-Burnage on 01297 444580 before October 18.”

Julie De’Ath Lancaster won the Elizabeth Shuman prize as a student at Trinity College in Cambridge. She studied for her post graduate certificate of education at London University and from then on her professional life has been that of a singer and music educator.

Her opera and oratorio engagements as a solo soprano have taken her to the great cathedrals of Southwark and Carlisle, to Spain with the Mozart Singers and to many renowned UK concert halls.
