CAN'T say I often write about pole dancing fundraisers but that's the beauty of this job, you just never know what'll turn up.

Ally Franklin, who runs Polelatis studio in Gundry Lane, Bridport, is putting on a Halloween cabaret show to raise awareness for male cancers.

She said: "Every year more than 43,000 men are diagnosed with either prostate, penile or testicular cancer; a few of our pole ladies have lost friends or family member to these diseases and it was put forward that the cabaret should be done to support Orchid male cancer charity.

"Sisters are doing it for the brothers as it were. We are always being told that we are 'poling' for men so this time we really are.

"Not only are there pole solos and double acts but we also have dancers, belly dancers, hula hoopers, an acrobat and a Capoeira demonstration."

If, like me you'd never heard of Capoeira I can now tell you it's a Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics and music.

There will also be stalls selling items ready for Christmas (aargh!) and cards, Forever Living products and the Body Shop.

Refreshments will be served as well as a raffle with some prizes all donated either from pole companies or local businesses.

Ally added: "We decided to do it on Halloween, Friday, October 31, and it is child friendly. There will be some tricks and treats available and an overall spooky atmosphere."

Tickets are £4.50, although children under 12 are free.

Contact Ally on 07775 532101 or email ally@polelatis.com for more information.

The cabaret is at Litton Cheney village hall.

"It occurs to me it’d be a great feature for our young Tara to try her hand at a spot of pole dancing.

"I dare her!"
