LYME REGIS: Volunteers are needed to put their baking skills to the test for a fundraising event in aid of remodelling the Anning Road Playing Fields.

A makeover of the site in Lyme Regis looks set to finally become a reality after councillors deemed remodelling the area a priority for the 2015-2016 financial year back in May.

Last year, parents labelled the playing field a ‘danger zone’ and called for improvements.

Parents said the play equipment was dated, dangerous and poorly designed and called for the town council to help fund a new park.

Now, everyone is encouraged to bake cakes to sell at a coffee morning and raffle this Saturday, August 2, to fundraise for the project. Lyme Regis Play Park fundraising association advisor and town councillor, Cheryl Reynolds, said: “We would be so grateful for anyone that can make cakes for us to sell on August 2 at our coffee morning at The Inn Plaice, Pilot Boat, in Lyme.

“If you need them collected, please let me know. I would love for everyone to come and join us for coffee and help raise some money towards a new play park at Anning Road.”

Anyone who thinks they may be able to help should contact Cheryl Reynolds on 01297 443814 or 07796 074849.
