MORE than 120 people laced up their running shoes and hit the streets for this year's Jurassic Coast Run in Bridport.
The run, which is now an annual event following its debut last year, took place on July 13 and included a 10k, a 5k, and a new one-mile race for those under 12-years-old.
There were timed events with prizes in different age categories and a family treasure hunt at the Bridport Leisure Centre.
The majority of runners picked the 10K race which led them up Thorncombe Beacon - the second highest hill on the southern coast.
The 5k run also included sweeping views of the Jurassic Coast from Eype to West Bay.
One of the organisers Hagen Gerle, who is also a member of local running group Bridport Runners, said: “The event turned out to be very successful and exciting with nearly 130 runners in the three races - more than last year.
“The Bridport Leisure Centre, Brit Valley Rotary Club and Bridport Runners are the joint organisers of the event and this year's new one mile race also proved popular.
“The ages of runners ranged from a young boy who was just four-years-old to one man aged 72.
“Runners also commented on the great scenic views the run provided, and we had a lot more runners from local running groups which is great news.
“Also, children seemed to really enjoy the family treasure hunt in the leisure centre, which provided them with something to do while others were running the races.
“Overall it was a great event this year and thank you to everyone who took part.”
The winner of the 10K race was Paul Jefferson from Bristol and the fastest female runner was Francis Johnson.
There were also awards for the fastest veteran runner's category, which went to Clive Whaley from Bridport Runners and Frances Anderson.
In the 5K race, Harrison Yarnold defended his title as fastest male runner from last year while the fastest female runner on the course was Georgie Clarke.
The fastest male veteran was Graham Symes and the fastest female veteran was Zodwa Chasokela.
Races for the Bridport Jurassic Coast Run kicked off at 10.30am from the Bridport Leisure Centre.
