BRIDPORT Town Councillor Maggie Ray has taken office for another year as Mayor.

Councillor Sarah Williams is Leader of the Council and Councillor Geoffrey Ackerman is Deputy Mayor.

Speaking at the Mayor Making ceremony at the Town Hall last night, Thursday, May 15, Cllr Williams said she was ‘honoured’ to accept the role for the second year and looked forward to working with other local parishes.

She added: “There will be challenges over the coming year, as pressure on all levels of local government affects local councils.

“We have established a budget working group which will also be looking at all WDDC service reviews that might affect Bridport.”

Cllr Ray said she hopes to continue to highlight the work of young people in the town.

Her charities for the year will be the Bridport Young Persons’ Action Trust and the Bridport Young Performers’ Scholarship.
