West Dorset churches unite
1:00pm Thursday 21st March 2013 in Bridport
BEAMINSTER Team Rector, Rev David Baldwin and Team Vicar, Rev Jo Neary, plan to walk between every church in the Beaminster Area Team during Holy Week in an effort to promote unity between the 14 parishes.
The walk, which begins on Palm Sunday, March 24 and ends next Wednesday is an effort to unite the churches within the large team and to give a common focus for Holy Week.
The Beaminster Team consists of 14 parishes and 15 churches. The walk starts in Toller Porcorum and concludes in South Perrott. The total mileage is 31 miles over four days and each church will be visited as well as the four primary schools in the team.
“We will worship in every church and lead outdoor Easter services at each school,” said Rev Neary.
“Anyone is welcome to join us during the walk and we hope to connect with as many people as we can across the four days.
“Although the Church of England in rural areas tend to group parishes together in large teams, it can often be difficult for parishes to connect with one another.”
