A COMBINATION of volunteer labour and enthusiasm, grants and community support saw the opening of a new play trail on Allington Hill.
The main aim of the play trail which is set out in Coopers Wood and field is to encourage children and families to experience nature first hand.
Allington volunteer Cathy Harvey said: “The volunteers are fully aware as they get older a new generation of people will need to care for the hill.
“With them having fond memories of their childhood connected with this special place, it is hoped they will one day become volunteers, appreciating how lucky we are having this on our doorstep.”
Money for the trail has come from West Dorset District Council leisure development fund, The West Dorset District Council, Bridport Area Community Fund, Bridport Town Council, The Lions Club of Bridport Allington Parish Council, Waitrose and donations from the public.
Huck Nets donated some items of equipment.
Mrs Harvey added: “We would like to thank the Mayor Coun Dave Rickard and his wife for opening the play trail and for their support of the community work that the Allington volunteer group are involved in.”
