From apples to archaeology, the Spirit of Bridport was on show to the world at the community fair in the town hall.

Stalls and stands from more than a score of local groups, organisations and clubs packed the hall to put on display what life in Bridport is all about.

The Town Council, the Youth Centre, the Bridport Museum and the Melplash Show were alongside the Gig Club and the local Quakers at Saturday’s event which aimed to showcase how much Bridport can provide and give visitors and local people a taste of town life.

Other exhibitors included the tourist information centre, the Heritage Forum, the Bridport area 50-plus Forum, the Community Land Trust, Skills for Self- Reliance, the Food Group, the arts centre, the Community Orchard, Cupboard Love and the Munch Club, Bridport Business chamber, the West Dorset Diggers, Transition Town Bridport and the Bridport Local Area Partnership and the Bridport Camera Club.

Speaking for Spirit of Bridport, Ros Kayes said: It’s always great to see community groups in Bridport out in force – and the Spirit team would like to thank all those involved in helping on the day.

“We hope to continue repeating the event as a kind of annual freshers fair for all our community groups. There always seems to be someone coming along who is new to the town and can’t believe the range of things happening here. I hope those who came along were able to join up and get involved in our life.”
