The cordon has been lifted and the access road to Monmouth Beach in Lyme Regis is open again following yesterday’s major land movement.
Signs are going up urging visitors to approach the area with caution, and chalet owners are being strongly advised not to approach their properties.
Yesterday afternoon police moved to close access to the area after the ground shifted again and the ground movement has left some of the chalets in an increasingly precarious position.
Lyme Regis Deputy Town Clerk John Wright said this afternoon that engineers had been to the area today to review the situation.
“The road closure is now lifted and the beach is open, but we are putting signs out urging everyone to proceed with caution in the area,” he added.
“The advice is not to visit the chalets. The ground is shifting and there are some landslips as well.”
