FROSTY: Ice warning overnight FROSTY: Ice warning overnight

THE Met Office has warned of the danger of ice overnight in the south of England - including Dorset.

A spokesman said: "Outbreaks of rain, sleet and some snow will gradually clear southwards during Saturday night.

"With temperatures failing rapidly throughout the evening and night, there is a risk of icy surfaces.
"The rain, sleet and snow may linger in parts of southern England well into Sunday morning, by which time it will be light and mainly falling as snow.

"While local accumulations of upto 2cm of snow are possible on some high level roads, it is the risk of ice which is expected to present the main problems."

He added: "The public should be aware of the risk of disruption to travel."

The warning comes amid heavy rain and flood alerts in Dorset.

Motorists are being warned to take care when driving if temperatures drop below freezing.
