Dorset Fire and Rescue Service were called to the river at Pymore, near Bridport, this morning (Sat 12 Jan) to assist in rescuing the two stuck ponies. A specialist animal rescue team from Poole along with specialist wading teams from Bridport fire station attended. A spokesman for the fire service said: “The crews supported the owner in encouraging the ponies to self rescue. “The owner used food, rope and coaching to encourage the ponies out of the water, requiring very minimal action from the crews.” The ponies were out of the water by 10.34am.
