Bridport trickster jailed

A MAN has been jailed after admitting offences in Bridport stores.

Barry John Mulhall, 28, admitted two counts of fraud by false representation at clothes stores on January 6.

Prosecuting, Elizabeth Valera told Weymouth magistrates that the defendant took a blazer from one store, removed its security tag and demanded a refund.

He then took a jacket from another store, took it outside, before returning to demand a refund.

Mulhall, of no fixed abode, further admitted a charge of theft relating to three bottles of whisky to the value of £62.99.

Speaking on behalf of the defendant, Lee Christmas said: “He has been an addict for a number of years, and he knows it is killing him, and that he needs help.

“These offences happened as a result of a need for money.”

Mulhall was jailed for a total of 16 weeks.
