Recycle your Christmas tree

DORSET residents are reminded not to forget to recycle their Christmas trees at the end of the festive season.

Real trees can be recycled to produce organic compost and Dorset County Council is urging people to remember to be green once the festivities are over.

There are different arrangements depending on where you live in Dorset. Residents in Weymouth and Portland can put their trees out for collection for composting alongside their brown bin any time after Christmas. Trees can also be composted at home or at local household recycling centres.

West Dorset District Council will be collecting real Christmas trees for composting between Monday, January 7 and Friday, February 1. Book your Christmas tree recycling online via dorsetforyou .com/recycling Purbeck residents should dispose of their trees at household recycling centres in the area and North Dorset residents can take their trees to recycling centres in Blandford, Shaftesbury or Sherborne.
