Rotary Clubs united to enjoy the President's Evening hosted by president Bernard Paull to say 'thank you'.

Over sixty Rotary officials attended the evening at Highlands End Holiday Park.

Guests included assistant district governor elect Michael Fernando of the Yeovil Club and members of the daughter clubs, Brit Valley and Lyme Regis, Rotary Club of Bridport members, guests and president and Mrs Paull's family, who all enjoyed an evening of thanks.

Entertainment was provided in the form of jazz band the Gatsby Gang, followed by a meal.

The Loyal Toast was proposed by past president Roger Stoodley.

Bernard Paull in his toast to the guests, thanked Mrs Mavis Gurd for her support in providing her premises for one of the club's main fundraising projects, hyacinth bulbs sold for Christmas each year.

Mr Paull praised Mr Seogolutze for his art work in connection with the Police Choir concert.

In replying, Mr Fernando emphasised the whole Rotarian world was dedicated to eliminating polio, which had almost been achieved.

Past president Clive Bath from the Bridport Club visited India on a regular basis at his own expense working on the project there.

Joint president of the Bridport Inner Wheel, Mrs Jilly Dobinson, congratulated the club on seventy years of service to the community and invited the members to the Inner Wheel's fiftieth anniversary in June.

Absent friends were toasted by past president David Weston, with the recent loss to the club of John Samways in mind.

Toast master for the evening, with his amusing anecdotes, was Bridport born past president Tony Williams.

President elect Chrissie Bailey had contributed to the successful organisation of the evening.
