Girlguides marked World Thinking Day by taking time to think about others across the world.

Nearly 100 girls from different units of Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and senior sections from Bridport, Bothampton, Broadwindsor, Bride Valley, Charmouth and Lyme Regis took part in various world activities such as Mexican dancing, traditional games, learning about different cultures and crafts.

Trainee leader, Kirsty McKenzie, said: "I'm training to be a leader, and this was the first event I did.

"There were more than 100 girls in attendance aged five to 18 doing different activities.

"My zone was India, where we played a traditional Indian game, related to pollution.

"Overall I think the girls enjoyed the dancing games the most out of all the activities."

Since 1926, girl guides and girl scouts have joined together to think about one another around the world on World Thinking Day.

A spokesman for Girlguiding UK said: "It's an international commemoration day which takes place every year on Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of scouting, and his wife, Olive, the founder of Girlguiding's, birthdays.

"Every year, members take part in activities, parades, camps and more to commemorate their existence globally."
