POLICE are appealing for information after money was stolen from a shop.

A man "confused the cashier" at Central Stores in Beaminster on Sunday (2) while asking for notes to be changed and stole £100.

A police spokesman said: "Just before 5pm a man made off with £100 from a shop in Beaminster having confused the cashier by asking for change.

"Police were called about 10 minutes after the incident. Officers are investigating and no arrests have been made."

Police are appealing for information about a suspect, described as an Asian man in his 30s, 5ft 5in tall, of average build and with black hair.

Owner Karen Allen is warning other retailers about the incident.

She said: "This man stole money from our till.

"He came in and wanted to change up £100 worth of £20 notes into £10 notes and flustered a member of our staff, confusing her and then left with £200."
