A DISTRAUGHT dog owner is appealing to the public once more for help in the hope of being reunited with her beloved pet.

Victor the Red Setter went missing last March at Hursey in West Dorset a year ago.

Since then his owner Jackie Riley has been desperately seeking information about his whereabouts.

In the time Victor has been missing Jackie has been working to try to make it compulsory for vets to check that mirco-chipped dogs match their owners addresses.

The £4,000 reward for Victor still stands.

Last year, actor Martin Clunes stepped in to help Jackie by doubling the reward for anyone who returns him and helping to publicise her search.

Jackie said: “It has now been a year since Victor went missing. He is a beautiful dog.

“I’m hoping that this appeal could help jog people’s memories and that someone has seen him or knows what happened that day.

“I’ve been in contact with MP Oliver Letwin about ensuring all dogs are scanned and he has been very supportive. But I think we have a long way to go with it.

“I think it could help find a lot of missing and stolen dogs. I’m calling for anyone who got a Red Setter in the last year to take them to a vet to get the chip checked to just double check.”

Jackie added: “Martin Clunes is still very supportive.

“I’m hoping this will bring it back to people’s awareness.”

Victor was last seen at around 6pm on Friday, March 18 at Hursey near Beaminster.

He also had a medical condition that would mean he would go blind without treatment - a great concern for Jackie.

One potential sighting was reported by a local fisherman in April last year.

He reported seeing a Red Setter on Hive Beach near Burton Bradstock at first light on Saturday, April 23.

Victor was microchipped and has telephone numbers were on a disc attached to his collar at the time he went missing.
