After a very successful summer season the Beaminster Museum is now embarking on its programme of winter talks.

The first talk will be held on Tuesday, November 11 at 2.30pm in the Beaminster Museum and is entitled The Devon & Dorsets on the Western Front.

The talk will be given by Chris Copson who is the curator of the Military Museum in Dorchester and has a vast knowledge of the regimental actions.

This talk will recount the experiences of the West Country soldiers from 1914-1918 who were in the thick of the fighting in France and Flanders.

The talk will also use images, right, and artefacts to illustrate how the British Army adapted to trench warfare. The admission charge will be £2.50 per person.

Museum spokesman Douglas Beazer said: “There is a very interesting and varied selection of talks throughout this winter season to suit everyone’s taste and a list of all future talks can be seen on the notice board outside of the museum.”
