BEAMINSTER: Parents, staff, governors and students all joined together for the 2014 Beaminster School Presentation Evening on Monday.
Headteacher Keith Hales, who started his new job in the autumn after ten years as deputy head, said that the Presentation Evening was a time to celebrate the ‘diverse talents’ at the students at the school.
“Along with the subject awards for excellence and outstanding work, are those for progress and effort, for students who have maintained an extraordinary level of diligence and fortitude throughout the year,” he added.
The Special Awards reflect the unique abilities demonstrated by so many of our students for their involvement in the Community, Leadership, Student Voice, The Arts, Sport and the world of work. Finally, there are the Governors’ Awards, for outstanding all round improvement and effort, and The Head’s Awards for outstanding all round academic excellence and achievement.”
The evening, run by Deputy Head, David Withers, and Assistant Head Richard Barnes, included two music performances from students, and was rounded off with refreshments.
Mr David Webb, chair of governors, presented the Governors’ awards and said: “I was thrilled to be part of such a wonderful evening.
“Beaminster School has so much to celebrate and it was lovely to see so many parents in attendance.
“Many congratulations to all the students involved.”
Mr Ian Randall, head of pastoral care, said: “It was a real pleasure to see so many students, well over 100 of them, being rewarded for their hard work and contributions to Beaminster School.”
