A SCHOOLGIRL was hit by a car in a hit and run collision in Beaminster, police said.
The 13 year old from Bridport suffered minor injuries in the incident the junction of Fleet Street and North Street.
Police said that the driver failed to stop and have appealed for witnesses to the collision at about 4pm on Friday February 8.
PCS ara Mackay, of Bridport police, said: “The driver was stationary at the junction waiting to pull out when the girls crossed the road. “The car then reversed back a short distance striking the arm of one of the girls.
“I am appealing for anyone with information about this incident to contact Dorset Police.
“I would urge the driver to make contact with the police. All calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”
The girl sustained minor injuries in the incident and did not require hospital treatment. Police believe that the car involved may have been silver in colour.
The driver of the vehicle is believed to have been a woman with long blonde hair.
Witnesses and anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 101 quoting incident number 08:337.
