Thieves steal wire fencing from yard
12:30pm Thursday 18th October 2012 in News
Police in Bridport are appealing for anyone with information to come forward following the theft of galvanised wire stock fencing from a commercial yard.
Officers are keen to trace the stolen property following the theft which happened some time between 2.30am and 2.45am on October 12.
About 24 rolls of the metal wire fencing, valued at more than £1,000, were stolen from a trading estate in the town. Police have not named the business involved.
PC Sean Cannon, of Bridport Police, said: “The theft of these expensive items has caused great financial loss to the proprietor. The yard gate was forced open and the offenders used a saloon vehicle to take the fencing away.
“I am particularly keen to trace the stolen property and speak to anyone who has been offered fencing in strange circumstances, possibly for a low cash sum.
“I would ask that anyone who has recently contracted someone to install such fencing should ensure they establish exactly where it has come from and insist on seeing an invoice.
“If they are at all suspicious, I would ask they contact us on 101.”
Call Dorset Police in confidence on 101, and ask to speak to the Bridport duty sergeant quoting incident number 12:55.
