THERE was some undignified tussling over this story but seems to me it had Diary written all over it so I won.

I love the fact that Sir John Colfox School sixth former Andrew Batchelor wants to run from Golden Cap to Portland Bill on Saturday (29) and is willing to appear on Youtube wielding a fishing rod dressed as a Teletubby.

Even though his family thought he was a bit mad they can’t help but be proud of him as he’s decided to do his Cancer Research fundraising because his aunt has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

So the 17-year-old is out every night pounding the pavements and has his costume ready for his fishing competition speaks volumes for his commitment.

As he says: “I will be running approximately 30 miles along the Dorset coastline. I am doing this to raise money for Cancer Research UK, the world’s largest charity dedicated to beating cancer.

“I was inspired to do this as my aunt has recently been diagnosed with and is receiving treatment for breast cancer. I am also competing in a charity fishing match on October 6 and 7 against anglers from all over England and Wales.

“This match will be filmed and put onto the ‘Back of the Landing Net’ Youtube channel. I decided that if I raised more than £300 I would fish this match dressed as a Teletubby.

“So far I have raised nearly £500 so that target has been achieved but I don't want to stop here and would be very grateful for any further donations from local people and/or organisations and businesses.”

Donations can be made online at: www.justgiving.com/ Andrew-Batchelor or by text by sending “TEXT90 £?” to 70070.

Sister Rachel Hayball said: “At first we all thought he was slightly mad but he has put in so much work and he is out running every night, he is doing a serious amount of miles training for it.

“With our auntie being diagnosed with breast cancer the whole family is well and truly behind him.”
