SHOPKEEPER Justin Tunstall has linked up with a rock band for a ‘Dodgy’ album promotion.

The pop fan has joined forces with the group Dodgy to help them release their first record in 12 years, called Stand Upright in a Cool Place.

It’s also the name of a new cheese being sold by Justin’s Town Mill Cheesemonger in Lyme Regis and created by Ford Farm at Litton Cheney.

Now Justin, who has been a fan of the band since the early 90s, is holding a party at his premises in Mill Lane on February 9 with a preview play of the new CD after obtaining an advance copy.

Music fans will also be able to hear the new CD and the band’s greatest hits when they play the Electric Palace on Friday, March 9 on a national tour.

Justin said: “I’ve loved Dodgy since the early days of their club nights in 1991. “Last year my wife, Katy, and I went to see them play at River Cottage HQ and we hatched a plan to do something together.

“The band said that we could have an advance copy of Stand Upright in a Cool Place.

“The album title seems to lend itself to a gathering in a tiny shop with refrigerators running, so we thought we’d host a listening party to celebrate our re-opening on Friday after our winter refit.

The party will be at 6.30 pm on Thursday, February 9 and just 20 can be accommodated.”

He added: “We’ll make our Cool Place a little less chilly with complimentary mulled apple juice and some hearty cheese snacks.”

Justin is offering free tickets for the party but people need to apply as soon as possible on 01297 442626.

Dodgy hit the big time with the sunshine anthem Staying out for the Summer before scoring such hits as Good Enough and If You’re Thinking of Me.

The trio reached the peak of their popularity during the Britpop years of the mid nineties but were already well established before then.

They played the main stage of such acclaimed festivals as Glastonbury.

The new cheese is 900 grams of mature Dorset Cheddar from Ford Farm in Litton Cheney.

It is in the shape of a black-waxed 45 rpm, 7 inch single with a label by Dodgy’s designer Russell Hardman of website growa brain.co.uk.

Drummer Mathew Priest said the cheese was a hit with the band.

He added: “I love it. A Dodgy cheese.”

The album’s official release is on Strikeback Records on Monday, February 20.
