THE Lib Dems retained control of Bridport Town Council with 13 seats.

The party increased its majority by one seat.

The Tories took four and long serving David Tett remains the independent voice.

Mayor Geoff Ackerman kept his seat as did Coun Karl Wallace, despite a recent conviction for failing to give a specimen of breath for analysis.

Conservatives Keith Day and Frances McKenzie – who switched from the Lib Dems to Tories earlier this year – lost their seats.

However, the duo did win seats on West Dorset District Council while Coun Wallace lost his place on that authority.

New elected councillors on Bridport Town Council include Conservatives Sandra Brown, Gillian Summers and Julian Thomas May.

New Lib Dem councillors include Louise Glover, Anne-Marie Vincent, Gillian Massey, Charles Michell and Edward Colfox.

Coun Wallace said it was strange that he won the town council and lost the district council.

The Lib Dem lost his district council seat to Frances McKenzie, who defected from the Lib Dems to Conservatives earlier this year.
