A place of worship has reopened after 15 months.

The Evangelical Hall on Priory Lane, Bridport, closed for refurbishment and Beacon Church Bridport recently held a thanksgiving service to mark moving back in.

After the previous church disbanded, members of the Beacon Church were contacted by the trustees of the building and asked if the church would be interested in holding its services there.

For the past six years, Beacon Church Bridport, which started in 2012, held its services in St Mary's school hall.

Members now plan to continue the same work of previous churches, with the move marking a new development in the church's history.

A spokesman for Beacon Church said: "We are very grateful to the Bridport Evangelical Trust for allowing us to use the premises and it is fantastic that we can continue to use this building as a place of worship. "Although our services may be more contemporary than previous ones, our message is still the same, that of the goodness of God and his love for people."

Those who attended the service included Mayor of Bridport, Cllr Barry Irvine, and his wife, Carol.

Services will be held at the hall every Sunday morning at 10.30am, with all welcome to attend.

The church will also hold three weeks of courses entitled Alpha from Thursday, September 27, which will freely explore the basics of Christian faith.
