A vibrant and colourful art exhibition will provide inspiration for care home residents.

Those living at Harbour House residential care home, West Bay, will have a go with a paintbrush after visiting fellow West Bay resident Philip Sutton’s exhibition at Bridport Arts Centre.

Creative Minds artist Sarah Jane Ross, from Bridport, who delivers art sessions at the home, led the group, along with activities co-ordinators Babs and Chrissie from Harbour House.

Residents enjoyed the ‘Philip Sutton at 90’ exhibition and will now create their own artwork in response at their next Creative Minds session.

Creative Minds is a UK-wide community of artists which delivers fun and therapeutic art sessions to care homes and other venues, and Harbour House regularly hosts art sessions with the group as part of its varied activity programme.

Anna Knight, registered manager, said: “The residents always enjoy trips out and this one was especially stimulating for them. The Arts Centre was very accommodating, too - we’ll definitely be visiting again soon.”

Sarah Jane Ross, Creative Minds artist, said: “One of our key aims is to make art accessible to everyone so to see artwork in real life, especially on this scale, was fantastic. The residents said how much they’d enjoyed seeing Philip’s work and what he’d achieved. They were also looking forward to discussing his exhibition with him at breakfast.”
