PLANS to construct a small retail and residential complex in Bovington will be heard by district chiefs next week.

Developers want to demolish the existing building at King George V Road, which houses a convenience store and a vacant fast food outlet, making way for a new two-storey complex - with a pair of retail units and two residential flats.

Purbeck District Council (PDC) planning committee members are set to discuss the plans at a meeting scheduled for Westport House, Worgret Road, Wareham, next Wednesday. (Sept 26)

A report to committee members, written by planning case officer Alexandra Dones, recommends permission be granted for the project.

Ms Dones explained: "Although the proposal includes demolishing a building containing two retail units, officers do not consider that the proposals will result in a loss of facilities to the community as the replacement building aims to replace both retain units whilst supplying two residential units in the form of flats."

PDC has not received any comments from neighbours or residents about the planning application.
