A man has been taken to hospital by air ambulance following a crash.

The A3066 was closed for several hours late this afternoon as emergency services rushed to the scene at the junction of Drury Lane near Netherbury.

The road has since reopened but was closed earlier from the A35 East Road (Mitsubishi roundabout) in Bridport to the B3163 Whitcombe Road in Beaminster.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said this evening: “The road was closed to facilitate the safe arrival of the air ambulance. The motorcyclist was taken to hospital by the air ambulance and the road was reopened at 6.25pm.”

He added that the man’s injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing.

Police said earlier that the motorcyclist had been trapped in a hedge and the fire service and paramedics assisted.

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service said: "We were called soon after 4.20pm to attend a road traffic incident involving a motorbike and a car on the A3066 near Netherbury.

"We have sent a rapid response car and an air ambulance to attend the incident.”
