A hedge fire spread to a tree in the early hours of the morning.

The incident took place on St Katherine's Avenue in Bridport this morning.

A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were alerted to the incident at 3.45am.

A crew from Bridport Fire Station attended the scene.

The spokesman said the hedge was found 'well alight' and added: “On arrival crews were met by the home owner and shown the best access to the rear of the property. They quickly got to work using one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire which had also taken hold of a tree.”
