If you have ever wondered what happens behind the scenes at an artist's studio, this is the event for you.

Bridport and West Dorset Open Studios event will see 90 different artists open their doors at 42 different venues across the area.

The event will take place from Saturday, September 8 until Sunday, September 16, and was started in 1999 by Caroline Ireland.

Since then, it has grown over the years to become a distinctive showcase for artists who live and work in West Dorset.

The event kicked off with a preview exhibition, which was held at Bridport Arts Centre until Saturday, September 1.

There will be a chance to view artists who focus on painting, printmaking, illustration, ceramics, jewellery, textiles, glass, furniture and sculpture.

Two artists who will be opening their home are Mart and Ali Tebbs.

Mart is a well established artist in Bridport and while Ali has exhibited in the last two Dorset Art Weeks, she is new to Open Studios.

Ali's collages are bright, colourful, semi-abstract landscapes constructed from hand painted papers, the imagery is mainly imaginative and dictated by the random nature of the papers.

Mart has become increasingly abstract in his approach, with his language of shapes drawn from years living and working in the Dorset countryside and by the coastline.

Ali said: "We would be delighted to welcome you to see our work spaces at our home on 6 St Andrews Road, a stones throw from East Street."

The pair's home will be open each day from 10am until 5pm.
