A record-breaking amount was raised for charity thanks to the kindness of care home staff.

Coneygar Lodge care home held its annual charity garden party and raised an impressive £1,160 for the air ambulance and Alzheimer's Society.

Raffle prize donations were provided by local companies and will benefit the two charities, as chosen by residents of the home.

Visitors, residents and staff enjoyed live music from Sarah Hanan, a Birds of Prey display and cream teas. The raffle and tombola stalls proved very popular and even the rain held off until the end.

Coneygar Lodge's James Cross said: "I'm so proud of what we have achieved this afternoon, smashing our previous record of £857. The amount of effort the everyone put in was rewarded in full and enjoyable afternoon had, raising money for two great charities."
