AWARD: Beaminster woman Gillie Kirby is set to receive a top award for her achievements inside and outside work.

Gillie (28), who was born with the growth stunting condition achondroplasia, will receive a Lloyds Bank Black Horse award at the Melplash Show later this month.

The award is made to deserving young people across the country wherever the bank's symbolic horse appears.

JURASSIC: More than 60 people joined in the fourth annual Sculpture on the Beach competition at Eype on Sunday.

Monster fish, prehistoric beasts and still life arrangements vied for the five prizes in the event organised by Bridport Arts Centre.

The holidaymakers and locals who took part were only allowed to use materials found on the beach but were given ideas by professional artists Trish Wylie and Olivia Saunders.

FASHION: A cabin trunk delivered to Theresa Weller's Bridport home signalled the start of her travels in time.

The 1930s cruise wear discovered in that well worn piece of luggage is now part of a fashion collection destined to be a significant catalogue of social history.
