Firefighters were called to a small fire along the old railway track in Bridport, heading towards West Bay.
The call was received just after midnight on Saturday. One appliance from Bridport was mobilised to the fire.
Crews made contact with the first informant, who the teams where the fire was located.
The fire involved some wooden structures and vegetation. Crews used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
They then cut away the smouldering debris and damped down the area.
The attendance of the police was requested as the fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
