No one can deny the appeal of cooling off on a hot day in the sea.

Living on the stunning Jurassic coast, the sea plays an important part in the lives of local residents, particularly young people.

Bridport Leisure Centre is holding a number of water based activities in the summer holidays, that will give your child the knowledge required to be safe in and around the water, giving you peace of mind.

Water confidence is a vital skill. This two-part course is designed for children aged four years plus and is an introduction to swimming whilst building water confidence.

These fun sessions take place in our learner pool, where your child will be encouraged to move around the pool with a variety of swimming aids.

This is also a great opportunity to improve on skills already learnt.

Invaluable life saving and swimming skills are taught in our water safety class.

This is a great introduction to water safety for children aged eight to 16 years, covering survival knowledge, awareness of dangers and vital life-saving information.

Children attending must be able to swim 25 metres and should be confident in the deep end of the pool.

Our new junior swim fit sessions will develop strokes and improve swimming endurance.

All participants must be able to continuously swim 100 metres or be working at a stage six or above in the national plan framework.

Water polo is a fast-paced and exhilarating water sport.

Under the expert guidance of our coaches, children who can confidently swim 25 metres or more can take part in our water polo sessions.

This fun team game develops children's water confidence, builds fitness and teaches new skills.
