A man has been injured following a crash between a car and a lorry which left the A35 closed for more than six hours.

Police, ambulance and fire crews from Charmouth and Bridport were called to the A35 near Chideock shortly after 11.40am today (Tuesday).

A man has since been taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.

The road was closed between North Road, Chideock, and West Road in Bridport, with reports of traffic backed up in both directions to Bridport and Lyme for most of the afternoon.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said the closure was in place while vehicles were recovered and an investigation was carried out.

The road reopened shortly after 5pm.
