The life of a well-loved young woman who was killed in a car crash will be remembered this weekend.

Lulu Rocks, an annual event celebrating the life of Bridport woman Lulu Covey, will return on Saturday – and it is hoped it will be the biggest event yet.

Lulu's family are determined to keep her memory alive by helping others, with proceeds from the event going towards local worthy causes.

Lulu’s mum, Glenys Marsh, is hoping that by 2019 – when Lulu would have been 30 – they will have raised £30,000 for such causes.

This year's event will see proceeds go towards Mountjoy School and The Racehorse Sanctuary.

Glenys said: “We have been holding the event since 2016. It is the third annual event in memory of our daughter Lulu, who was tragically killed on the A37 in a car crash on May 8, 2015. We want to raise money for charities and by doing this we feel we are keeping Lu’s memory alive.

"Our previous events raised £7,000 in 2016 and £11,700 in 2017. We are hoping to have raised £30,000 by 2019, when Lulu would have been 30-years-old.”

Mountjoy School caters for pupils aged between two and 19 with a range of complex needs.

Glenys said: “We are raising money for Mountjoy School and The Racehorse Sanctuary – Lulu worked for Martin and Philippa Clunes as their groom and they raise money each year in memory of Lu at Buckham Fair. They chose the Racehorse Sanctuary for 2018.”

On the bill for Lulu Rocks 2018 so far are The Leggomen, The Salt, Jack Humphries, Zoe Baker and The Masquerades. There will be plenty of tasty treats on offer from an an array of street food stalls and a raffle and bar.

Glenys said: “By giving to Lulu Rocks 2018 you will help us accomplish this goal and also assist the chosen charities in carrying out their fantastic work.

“Your donation will be recognised at our event in several ways; as a sponsor, your name will be placed on posters that will publicise the event, and also in the local newspaper. We hope that we can count on your help to make this year’s event one of our best yet."

Lulu Rocks 2018 will take place on Saturday at Salway Ash village hall from 4pm.
