Crowds flocked to Lyme Regis over the bank holiday weekend to enjoy some jazz.

The popular Jazz Jurassica festival returned to the town, with events taking at the Marine Theatre, The Mariners Hotel, SWIM, as well as busking on the seafront.

The line-up was made up of more than 20 acts which included seasoned performer Georgie Fame, Liane Carroll and Keiran Alleyene.

With the festival overlapping with the B Sharp busking festival, performers took to the streets of Lyme Regis for seven hours, treating audiences to great sounds from street artists and buskers of all ages.

Julie Sheppard, festival organiser, said: "The sun shone, the bands played and the audiences partied hard, that's how we'll remember this year's Jazz Jurassica.

"Our performers spanned both musical genres and the generations, from funk to gypsy jazz, from swing to soul, from jazz reggae to R&B.

"We were proud to host the fabulous Georgie Fame, still going strong at 75, after a musical career spanning decades.

"And Keiran Alleyne, 21, the young R&B soul star and former X Factor finalist, just starting out on his solo career and first world tour."

The festival takes place in the town on the second bank holiday weekend of May, and sees visitors as well as residents attend the various events, with the headliners performing at the Marine Theatre.

Julie said: "The breadth of music continues to attract new audiences to the festival and perhaps convinces those who say "we don't like jazz" to come along and give it a try.

"The headline acts at the Marine theatre exceeded our expectations, there's something about the Marine which seems to bring out the best in performers and audiences alike.

"Liane Carroll, who played the festival finale, delivered a stunning performance there, which had the audience laughing one minute and crying the next, it was one of the most remarkable performances we'd ever seen at the festival."

As well as the music, visitors were invited to buy tickets for a Sunday brunch event, as well as a BBQ on the Sunday at the end of the festival.

Julie said: "We'd like to thank everyone who performed and helped, and Lyme Regis Town Council and their staff who worked so hard over the weekend to keep everything looking so spick-and-span despite the crowds.

"We were truly blessed by the good weather fairy too.

"Finally, thank you to everyone who came to listen, watch and enjoy themselves.

"Without your support, it wouldn't mean a thing."
