Plastic collected from beaches has been transformed into artwork with the aim of inspiring people to consider the environment.

Lyme Regis is set to host a free ‘Plastic Ocean’ interactive art installation.

Local artist Eva Fahle-Clouts says she has been inspired by water and would now like to invite you to see 'beyond the surface of water' with the thought-provoking exhibition.

Plastic Free Lyme Regis invited Eva to show her exhibition to support Lyme Regis’ plan to achieve Surfers Against Sewage-accredited plastic-free status for the town by the end of 2018.

Eva said: “My installation expresses my environmental concerns and my love for water - the beauty of it, all of its qualities, the sheer amount on this planet. Our bodies are around 60 per cent water and without water we would not survive. I have used photography, poems, text and the plastic I collected at the beach in Lyme Regis as well as old lobster pots."

On Sunday, June 10, at 2pm, the exhibition will be launched by Anne Baker with a talk on her experiences sailing around Britain as part of the ‘RoundBritain2017’ yacht team. The team sampled water all around the British coastline to test how much pollution, including plastic, it contained.

Plastic Free Lyme Regis will host Eva’s exhibition with an information stand alongside her display. There will also be tips to take away on reducing the plastic we use and how to be kinder to the environment.

Plastic Free Lyme Regis is a major project affiliated with Turn Lyme Green and is supported by Lyme Regis Town Council.

The Plastic Ocean exhibition will take place at the Jubilee Pavilion between June 9-15. It will open daily between 11am and 5pm, closing at 2pm on the last day, Friday June 15.
