Weldmar Hospicecare is searching for their 2018 Strictly Ballroom Champions.

Since 2013, the charity's dancing competition, Strictly Ballroom, has been a hit with audiences and helped to raise more than £70,000 for the end of life care charity.

Now they are looking for the next bunch of volunteers to take to the dancefloor.

On Friday, December 7, the charity will be holding their Strictly Ballroom Finale at Weymouth Pavilion, and are on the hunt for the individuals to take part in the 16-week challenge and willing to perform to a packed audience and a panel of judges.

If you have always fancied a go at the Foxtrot or wondered if you can Waltz, the charity is inviting you to take the opportunity to find out.

Once you are paired up, you will attend 16 free training sessions over a 16 week period, giving you the opportunity to create and perfect your own dance.

Under the guidance of The Eileen Spracklen School of Dance and the watchful eyes of Eileen and Gemma over the 16 weeks for free, you will be ready for the live shows.

Gemma Fulbrook, who will be training all of the participants this year, said: "We are really excited for this year's Strictly Challenge.

"If you are thinking about applying for this event then just do it. You won't be sorry.

"We have so much fun together as a group and we'll support you every step of the way.

"Let's make this the best year yet."

Participants are required to raise a minimum sponsorship of £400 for Weldmar Hospicecare whilst training, and pay a one-off registration fee of £25.

The sponsorship will help Weldmar to continue their outstanding care for patients and their families across Dorset.

The charity employ nurses, doctors, therapists, social workers, and offer counselling services.

Sessions take place in patients' homes, the Weldmar Hospice and the community, supported by trained volunteers.

Applications are being accepted now for the dance, and close on Tuesday, July 3.
