An art society is putting down its paint brushes to showcase their work to the public.

Members of the Lyme Regis Art Society are limbering up for their annual exhibition, the highlight of the society's year and the culmination of all their efforts over the past 12 months.

On Thursday, May 24, the society will take their work to the Town Mill Malthouse Gallery in Lyme Regis, to check it in, where Phil Clayton and his team will hang the paintings, the number of which can sometimes reach three figures.

The work will be showcased at a preview event on Friday, May 25, where all can admire the work the society has done this year.

Throughout the year, the society has had demonstrations in nearly every available media and the enthusiasm and expertise of the visiting artists have made this year very memorable.

Some have provided workshops where members can carry out trails of their techniques.

Moya from the arts society said: "It is always a thrill for us to finally see the whole collection of work up on the gallery walls.

"Although in different media, different frames and different sizes, somehow it all fits together to make a quite dazzling display.

"One of the pleasant sides of stewarding (apart from the cake in the Mill Café) is hearing the appreciative remarks made by the many visitors who come through the doors over the two weeks of the exhibition."

This year the society's work will be on display from Friday, May 25 until Wednesday, June 6.

Moya said: "We are also always ready to welcome any enquiries about the society itself and hope that the wide variety of work will attract new members."

The society meets on alternative Tuesdays in The Woodmead Halls from 2pm until 4pm from late September until the end of March.
