Dorset enjoyed its warmest day of the year yesterday – with temperatures set to rise further.

The sun came out yesterday and the arrival of the warm weather saw residents head outdoors to soak up the sunshine.

It sparked such excitement, the hashtag heatwave started trending on Twitter.

But today is set to be even warmer with temperatures rising to 20 degrees across the county including Bridport and Beaminster.

Lyme Regis will be slightly colder than Bridport, with temperatures set to reach 18 degrees this afternoon.

With light winds it will feel warm in the sunshine today, but fresher towards the coasts where some low cloud is likely.

Temperatures will remain warm throughout the afternoon and peak at 6pm this evening.

The warm weather will be with us for a few days as tomorrow is set to be another beautiful day.

Temperatures will again be in the twenties for another sunny and very warm day for many.

The maximum temperature will be 21 degrees in Bridport.

The warm snap comes just over four weeks after Dorset woke up to a blanket of snow on March 18.
