A Bridport based electrical company is celebrating after an apprentice working for the company won an award.
Chris Stubbs and Son Electrical’s apprentice, Oli Cole, won the ‘Electrical Apprentice of the Year’ award for Weymouth College.
Oli has worked with the company since finishing school in 2014.
He has spent the last four years carrying out a worked based training with qualified electricians, studying one day a week at Weymouth College and working hard for the company learning everything he needs to know to become a qualified electrician.
Oli’s hard work paid off as he was awarded the prize by South Dorset MP, Richard Drax.
A spokesman from the company said: “Well done Oli from all of us at Chris Stubbs and Son Electrical.
“We would like to say how proud of you we are.”
The awards took place at the College’s fifth apprenticeship fair, and concluded a busy and innovative week in which the college managed the sell the apprentice message through a number of initiatives.
The National Apprenticeship week took place from March 5 until March 9, where employers and apprentices from across England came together to celebrate the success of apprenticeships whilst encouraging even more people to choose apprenticeships as a career pathway.
Weymouth College currently offers 16 different apprenticeship schemes, in areas such as business and administration, to catering, carpentry and electrical.
